Working Tax Credit is designed to help people on low incomes, whether they are employed or self-employed. You don't need children to be able to qualify for Working Tax Credit.
You can claim Working Tax Credit if:
- You are a single parent or one of a couple who are responsible for at least one child or qualifying young person. You or your partner must work for 16 hours or more each week.
- You have a physical or mental disability that puts you at a disadvantage in getting a job. You must work at least 16 hours a week.
- You are aged over 25 and work for 30 or more hours a week.
- you are aged 50 or over and you started work of at least 16 hours a week after six months on certain benefits.
Working Tax Credit can include support for eligible childcare.
