| This service is provided by Derbyshire County Council for adults who require temporary assistance with personal care through disability, frailty, mental ill health or because they are recovering from a period of ill heath or family difficulty. The service also enables carers who provide a substantial amount of support to have a break from caring. Sometimes, as part of a long term care plan, the service is offered at regular and planned intervals. For children, Social Services has two residential units which offer respite facilities for children with disabilities.
