Information and communication technology

Description of service

The Council makes extensive use of Information and communication technology to deliver services to citizens. Virtually all services are now supported by computer technology. Functions such as Council tax collection, providing benefits, processesing planning applications etc would not be possible without support from IT systems.

Over recent years the Council has also developed web based solutions to give citizens alternative ways of accesing information, requesting services and tracking progress. There are plans to develop further solutions in partnership with the County Council and other agencies within the area so that citizens can access services in a joined up way.
