The Midland Railway-Butterley

The railway is a very pleasant 3.5 mile ride through a rural part of East Derbyshire.The Midland Railway-Butterley comprises of a large number attractions including a large railway museum, a 35 acre Country Park, Brittain Pit Farm Park, Demonstration Signal Box and Victorian Railwaymans Church, all of which are open every day.

Trains operate every weekend, school holidays and other specific times, for further information telephone 01773 570140. Associated with the railway in the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust with its impressive collection of main line locomotives and the Midland Diesel Group with over 25 main line diesel locomotives in its collection. The Narrow Gauge Golden Valley Light Railway and the Butterley Park Miniature Railway both operate most weekends during the summer. For further information click here
