
The fourth Annual Amber Valley Active Sports Awards were held at Alfreton Leisure Centre, Bowls Hall on Friday 11th September 2009, with over 160 guests in attendance. The awards were delivered on behalf of the Amber Valley Community Sports Network (Amber Valley Active) and Amber Valley Borough Council with Andrew James, Managing Director of Bridgfordian Sports Consultancy Ltd taking on the role of presenter for the evening, announcing the winners of the Awards.
In total, over 60 nominations had been received for the 16 categories of the Awards – highlighting the vast amount of sporting talent and achievement with Amber Valley. Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Amber Valley, Councillor Alan Cox welcomed guests to the event and congratulated all nominees on their achievements.
All categories had been sponsored by local companies/organisations, who were in attendance to present their respective awards. Award winners were put through to the Derbyshire Sports Awards to compete against the winners form the other districts within the County, shortlisted nominees for the Derbyshire Sports Awards will be announced at the end of week commencing 5th October 2009. The Derbyshire Sports Awards will take place at Pride Park on 13th November.
The evening also featured excellent displays from Starsteppers School of Dance and by The Heart of England Tae Kwon Do Club who are based at Alfreton Leisure Centre.
