The Youth Offending Service works with young people and their communities to tackle youth crime in Derbyshire. It is a partnership between:
-Derbyshire County Council's Children and Younger Adults
-Derbyshire County Council's Education Department
-Derbyshire Constabulary
-National Probation Service Derbyshire
-The Health Service.
The service supervises and supports young people aged 10 to 17 who have committed offences, and works with them to help prevent further offending.
The work of the Youth Offending Service can be divided between the supervision of convicted offenders and other youth crime prevention activity. The service achieves reductions in youth crime by working with offenders to reduce their likelihood of re-offending and working in partnership to ensure that preventative schemes are in place for young people at risk of offending.
