Councillors back community projects

Community groups and projects in Amber Valley benefitted by over £3,400 when Borough Council Cabinet Members agreed their latest round of contributions at a meeting on Wednesday 14 January 2015.

From helping a football club buy new goalposts to supporting a food bank offering emergency assistance to families and individuals in Langley Mill, a total of eight applications for grants were agreed.

Other successful applications included - 1st Waingroves Guides – help to buy equipment to enable them to attend an international event at Chatsworth Estate; Codnor Boys FC/GFC – to help provide security fencing for a sports field; Sporting Futures – to support sporting activities for young people in Heanor.

The Amber Valley Borough Council Councillors' Community Fund can be used for any purpose which will reduce the level of deprivation in the local area and enable the improvement of the quality of life for local residents.

The Community Fund has been set up to support the 11 most deprived wards in the Borough, they are:

  • Alfreton
  • Belper South
  • Codnor & Waingroves
  • Heanor East
  • Heanor West
  • Heanor & Loscoe
  • Ironville & Riddings
  • Langley Mill & Aldercar
  • Ripley
  • Ripley & Marehay
  • Somercotes

Residents who are interested in applying for support are asked to speak with their ward Councillor first. You can find out who your local Councillor is and how to contact them by using our Borough Councillor Lookup Page.
