Princes Trust team brings land back into use

Hard working members of a local Princes Trust team battled the elements during the recent freeze, to create a great new resource for charity United Response, at Shipley Park.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor John Walker and Mrs Angela Walker, along with the Deputy Mayor and Town Mayor of Heanor & Loscoe, Councillor Heather Longdon, and Ward Councillor Richard Iliffe and his wife, were all present for the hand-over to United Response of the community project undertaken by the Prince's Trust team.

After acquiring the Lease of the Derby Lodge and attached lands, United Response turned to The Princes Trust team to once again make the land usable.

The Princes Trust team (166) at Derby College braved the severe weather conditions to help give a new lease of life to the abandoned piece of Shipley Country Park.

The team was delighted to offer assistance. After a solid two weeks’ work in bitter conditions, the group of 16-25 year olds utterly transformed the land, restoring it to its former glory, after a long period of disuse.

The Worshipful the Mayor John Walker officially opened the poly tunnel and congratulated the team.
