Full steam ahead for Local Plan

Despite having to withdraw its Core Strategy in December 2015, Amber Valley Borough Council remains fully committed to securing an adopted up-to-date Local Plan by March 2018.

The next step in this process has seen landowners and developers being invited to submit details of sites that they wish to bring forward for housing and other development. An up-to-date list of possible sites will then be assessed, to establish which sites the Council considers to be most suitable for development and, crucially, that can also be delivered.

Cllr Kevin Buttery, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Securing an adopted Local Plan for Amber Valley remains a top priority for the Council, providing a robust set of policies and proposals to support housing and economic growth in the Borough, whilst at the same time safeguarding and enhancing our environment.

“It is critical that we identify enough sites to meet housing need, but also that the new homes we require are delivered more quickly, so we can demonstrate and maintain a 5 year supply of housing land, as required by the Government.

“I urge anyone who wishes to put forward land for housing to take the opportunity to respond to our ‘call for sites’. This will help us to make sure that enough homes can be brought forward for development, in the right places.”
