Skate Park gets ready to roll!

Amber Valley Borough Council has been working closely with local skaters to develop a first class facility at Alfreton Welfare Ground.

The first phase of the upgrade was completed in May with contributions from Amber Valley Borough Council and Alfreton Town Council, which provided ramps and jumps which have been enjoyed throughout the Summer.

A further investment of £25,000 has been made by Amber Valley Borough Council   making a £70,000 redevelopment of the skate park. It was officially opened on Friday 28th October.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Councillor Chris Short said: “Local skaters have been fully involved in the design of the skate park. The opening event included an appearance by a professional BMX’r provided by the manufacturer Evolution Skate, who demonstrated what can be achieved with practice. Skate boarding is an excellent way to keep fit and Alfreton Welfare is now a great place for skaters to meet up and have fun.”

The skate park design is ideal for both beginners and the more experienced skater or BMX’r.
