The Local Plan will now be subject to independent examination by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State, to determine whether the Local Plan is sound. The Secretary of State has appointed Inspector Karen Baker DipTP MA DipMP MRTPI to conduct the examination.

The Local Plan examination is a continuous process running from the date of submission through to the receipt of the Inspector’s report.

Part of the examination process will involve hearing sessions, where those invited to participate by the Inspector will have the opportunity to respond to matters raised. The hearing sessions will be open to the public to attend, but only those invited to participate in the sessions by the Inspector will have the opportunity to speak.

Once confirmed, all details relating to the examination process, including the hearing sessions, will be made available on the Borough Council’s website.

All communication to and from the Inspector during the examination process will be managed by the independent Programme Officer. The Programme Officer’s contact details are available on the Borough Council’s website via the following link:-

This shows that in the 9 month period from April to December 2017, 518 additional dwellings were completed. This represents the highest rate of completions for over 20 years and reflects the level of housing that will need to be delivered in Amber Valley over the coming years to meet identified housing needs.
