Funding for affected businesses

With Coronavirus (COVID-19) now affecting many areas of our services to the residents and businesses of Amber Valley, we are keen to keep you right up-to-date with the changes we are being forced to make. Read more about your council services.

Following their announcement on 31 October, the government has asked local councils to deliver grant funding to affected businesses.

Grant funding will cover national grants for the period 5 November to 2 December and local grants that applied prior that under the local lockdown restrictions.

The council expects to receive the funding and final government guidance by the 16 of November and is currently working to launch the application processes by 19 November 2020 at the latest. Please keep checking this page for updates.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (for businesses forced to close) – LRSG

From 5 November to 2 December 2020 the LRSG will be paid to eligible businesses with rateable values who have been required to close under the national guidelines. We await full details of who will be eligible but expect it to include all non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses.

A single grant will be paid to each eligible business to cover the four-week national lockdown period. Grant amounts are fixed, and rates are:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k and under - £1,334
  • For properties with a rateable value of over £15k and below £51k - £2,000
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51k and over - £3,000

We will soon be creating a webpage for businesses, according to our records, may qualify for this grant to apply.

Additional Restrictions Grant - (ARG)

The ARG is a discretionary scheme to support businesses who may have to close but who do not have a rateable value, this is likely to be based on the number of employees and the type of business.

We are currently in the process of reviewing national guidance and developing our discretionary scheme. As soon as this is complete, we will publish the scheme along with details on eligibility and the application process. It is likely to be based on the number of employees and the type.

Whilst the council will soon be publishing its specific ARG applicant guidance on this website, the current government ARG website provides more background information.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (for businesses able to stay open) – LRSG

Grant funding will also be able for businesses in Amber Valley for the period 31 October to 4 November (5 days) when we were under High Restrictions (Tier 2).

The (LRSG) is also a discretionary scheme to support businesses impacted by the local restrictions in place.

As with ARG, we are currently in the process of reviewing national guidance and developing our discretionary scheme and will publish this along with details on eligibility and the application process.

Whilst the council will soon be publishing its specific LRSG applicant guidance on this website, the government LRSG website provides more background information.
