The Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan has now been 'made' and forms part of the Development Plan for that area

Following the result of the Referendum on the 6th September 2018, the Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan was formally 'made' by the Council on the 19th September 2018.

Referendum Result

Following the result of the Referendum, a report will be considered by the Borough Council's Cabinet on the 19th September 2018, recommending that the Neighbourhood Plan be formally 'made'.

The Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan Referendum is scheduled to take place on the 6th September 2018. 


Information Statement

The Neighbourhood Planning Referendum for the Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan has been re-arranged for the 06 September 2018. The question asked in the Referendum will be:

'Do you want Amber Valley Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Crich to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

The Referendum Area is identical to the area that has been designated as the Crich Neighbourhood Plan Area which covers the parish of Crich. A map of the Referendum Area can be viewed by clicking here.

You are entitled to vote in the Referendum if on 06 September 2018:

  • You are registered to vote in local elections;
  • The address at which you are registered to vote in a local election, as shown in the register of electors, is in the Referendum Area (assuming that you are entitled to be registered at the address); and
  • You are 18 years of age or over on the day of the poll.


The Referendum expenses limit that will apply in relation to this Referendum is £2506.61. The number of persons entitled to vote in the Referendum by reference to which the limit has been calculated is: Crich Parish = 2451 as at 19 July 2018. 

The Referendum will be conducted in accordance with the procedures which are similar to those used at local government elections.

Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan Examination

Under Regulation 18 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, the Borough Council is required to publish a Decision Statement following the examination of a Neighbourhood Plan setting out the nature of the changes made to the Plan. The Decision Statement for the Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan can be viewed below.

The Examination of the Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan was completed on 22 March 2018 and the examination report was issued to the Borough Council and the Parish Council.

Submission of Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan

Crich Parish Council has produced a Neighbourhood plan for the Parish of Crich. It has now submitted the Neighbourhood Plan to Amber Valley Borough Council to make arrangements for publicity and formal consultation for a period of 6 weeks from Friday 22 September 2017.

The Neighbourhood Plan area includes the Parish of Crich.

The Neighbourhood Plan includes policies against which future development proposals would be assessed against through the planning process.

All comments received will then be forwarded to the Independent person appointed to carry out an examination of the Neighbourhood Plan.

Draft Crich Parish Neighbourhood Plan

Crich Parish Council are consulting on their draft Neighbourhood Plan under Regulation 14 of The Town and Country Planning, England The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.

The consultation period will end on Monday 1 May 2017, any representations should be made to Crich Parish Council. 

Crich Neighbourhood Area Application

The Designation of the Parish Of Crich as a Neighbourhood Area was agreed on 12 February 2015.

Amber Valley Borough Council has received an application from Crich Parish Council under Regulation 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 for the Borough Council to designate the area comprising of the Parish of Crich as a Neighbourhood Area within the meaning of Section 61G of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended by the Localism Act 2011).
