The Neighbourhood Plan for Belper has been prepared by Belper Town Council and formally made by Amber Valley Borough Council.
The Neighbourhood Area covers the whole of the parish of Belper and it sets out planning policies for this area from 2019 - 2028. The Neighbourhood Plan for Belper forms part of the Development Plan for the area and will be used through the planning process to assess future development proposals.
Following the result of the referendum on the 6 May 2021, the Neighbourhood Plan for Belper was formally 'made' by the council on the 30 June 2021.

The referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan for Belper took place on 6 May 2021.
85% of those who voted in the referendum voted 'yes', view results.

Under Regulation 18 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), the borough council is required to publish a decision statement following the examination of a Neighbourhood Plan setting out the nature of the changes made to the plan.
The examination of the Belper Neighbourhood Plan was completed on 13 November 2020 and the examination report was issued to the borough council.

Belper Town Council has produced a neighbourhood plan for the parish of Belper. It submitted the neighbourhood plan to Amber Valley Borough Council to make arrangements for publicity and formal consultation as required by Regulation 16 (b) of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended). The publicity period ran from 20 March until 7 May 2020 and has now ended.

Belper Town Council are currently re-consulting on their draft Neighbourhood Plan under Regulation 14 of The Town and Country Planning, England, The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The consultation period runs until 26 November 2019.
