Sexual assault and abuse

Sexual violence and abuse can be defined as any behaviour perceived to be of a sexual nature that is unwanted and takes place without consent or understanding. It can affect anyone regardless of gender sexuality, religion, race, or disability.

Sexual violence may include;

  • Rape
  • Assault
  • Inducement, threat, or deception to procure sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder
  • Incest

SV2 offer support to anyone who is a victim of sexual violence, assault or abuse. They work to Inform, Support, Protect and Empower them through advocacy and therapy.

Millfield House Sexual Abuse Referral Centre (SARC) provides the opportunity for medical examinations, confidential healthcare and compassionate support for adults (18 years and older) who have experienced any form of sexual assault.

Sail Derbyshire offers free, specialist counselling for adults aged 18 and over in Derbyshire who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, incest or sexual violence.
