In January 2021, the borough council commissioned consultants Knight Kavanagh & Page to provide an updated playing pitch assessment, strategy and action plan for Amber Valley.
The purpose of commissioning the review was to establish an up to date evidence base in relation to the demand for and supply of playing pitch and other outdoor sports facilities in the borough, in order to inform the preparation of appropriate policies and proposals in the new Amber Valley Local Plan, which will reflect national policy requirements as set out in section 8 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). It will also assist in ensuring a viable network of playing pitches that support the current and future population and promote sustainable club development and increased physical activity amongst the borough’s residents.
