The Growth and Town Centres team work closely with a wide range of partners to ensure a range of business support is available to businesses in the Amber Valley area. The Vision Derbyshire Business Start-Up and Business Support Grant Scheme is open to people who live in Derbyshire who are starting their own business or have recently set up a business in the last year.
A team of local expert business advisers are in place to offer free advice and support and funding of up to £10,000 per applicant is also available. You'll need to contact your allocated business adviser to access the grant support.
Networking opportunities and help in securing a wide range of services necessary to help entrepreneurs turn their venture into a success are also part of the support package on offer.
The scheme is particularly interested in helping entrepreneurs based in Derbyshire, as well as those aged between 17 and 30, or who are aged over 50 and who lost their jobs or livelihoods during Covid.
Vision Derbyshire is a collaboration of local authorities across Derbyshire which delivers priority projects which have a positive impact on people's lives and achieve greater council efficiency.

Amber Valley businesses, through Amber Valley Accelerator can access support to give a significant boost to how they do business. The project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and is delivered by East Midlands Chamber. This is local, place-based support offering support to businesses at any stage of development.

Key to every well-run business is an effective business plan and strategy but business owners and senior managers often lack the time to dedicate to this area. As part of the new Accelerator project, a business adviser is on hand to assess a business’s needs and offer guidance on where it might learn and grow, improve its processes, develop its customers, and improve its finances.
As well as one-to-one business adviser support, businesses have the opportunity to sign-up for a series of fully funded training workshops to boost key skills within their teams."

Held at Amber Valley Brough Council Town Hall, this free one-day workshop is suitable for anyone aged 19+ seeking to explore the idea of starting their own small business. The course covers the key considerations of planning and starting a business. Hosted by an experienced business advisor, this workshop gives guidance on registering the business, legalities and regulations and will show you how to access the support you need to find and write a business plan and identify grant funding.
