The renovation phase is now complete, and the Council received back possession of The Grammar week commencing 11 August 2025. Although the building has looked complete from the outside for some time, we were waiting for approval of final completion. For safety reasons, the site had to remain fenced off and closed to the public until those were completed.
We are planning open days to invite the public inside and proudly showcase the restoration. Details of these events will be shared as soon as they are confirmed. In the meantime, the site will remain closed while plans for public access are finalised — but we look forward to welcoming the public in as soon as possible.
Alongside this, our focus is on securing a sustainable operating model so that The Grammar remains in active use over the long term. Discussions are continuing to take place with Derbyshire County Council about leasing part of the building, alongside a third of the space that will remain available for community and business use. As arrangements are confirmed, we will publish details.
