Play is a vital part of childhood, helping children and young people to stay active, build confidence, learn new skills and connect with others. Amber Valley Borough Council is committed to making the borough a safe, inclusive and inspiring place to play, where every child can enjoy high‑quality spaces that support their health, wellbeing and development.
Through our Play Strategy and ongoing investment in parks, green spaces and play areas, we are working with partners, families and communities to ensure Amber Valley remains a great place for children to grow, explore and thrive.
Amber Valley Borough Council manages the majority of play areas across the borough and we understand that there are many places where improvements may be desired in the future.

Creating safe, inclusive and inspiring places for children and young people to play
The Amber Valley Play Strategy 2026–2031 sets out our five‑year plan to improve play opportunities across the borough. Play is essential for children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development, and this strategy outlines how we will work with partners, local communities and families to ensure all children and young people (ages 0–19) can enjoy high‑quality, accessible play spaces.
