Since the introduction of national non-domestic rates in 1990 Amber Valley’s business rates collection rate has consistently placed us in the upper quartile for English authorities.
Last year (2023/24) we collected 98.9% of business rates in-year, equal 43rd nationally. This is substantially higher than the national average. The national average in-year collection rate for non-domestic rates in England was 97.2% in 2023/24.
Overall business rate collection, covering over 30 years, is around 99.5%. This financial year alone we will collect around £35 million in non-domestic rates from some 4,000 business ratepayers.
