Since the introduction of national non-domestic rates in 1990 Amber Valley’s business rates collection rate has consistently placed us in the upper quartile for English authorities.
Last year (2022/23) we collected 98.8% of business rates in-year, equal 45th nationally. This is substantially higher than the national average. The national average in-year collection rate for non-domestic rates in England was 96.8% in 2022/23.
Overall business rate collection, covering over 30 years, is around 99.5%. This financial year alone we will collect around £33 million in non-domestic rates from some 4,000 business ratepayers.
