Amber Valley Access Group

The access group works in partnership with Amber Valley Borough Council and has been operational for approximately 19 years. The group is mainly run by volunteers who give their time relentlessly and are committed to improving access facilities in the area of Amber Valley.

They are highly involved in getting dropped kerbs constructed by liaising with Derbyshire County Council. They carry out surveys of public buildings, shops, parks and commercial properties to help give better access facilities for elderly and disabled people. They can advise the public over the telephone, email or by letter with regard to any access issues they may have.

The chairperson comments on all planning applications made in the borough, working with Amber Valley Borough Council to make sure that new developments comply with the building regulations and BSI standards. The group have recently updated the Amber Valley Access Guide. This booklet gives useful and helpful information together with access facilities in the Amber Valley area. A copy can be obtained free of charge from the group.
