Two years after bringing council housing back to Amber Valley for the first time in more than two decades, Amber Valley Borough Council is continuing to build on its commitment to providing more affordable homes for local people.
Four new two-bedroom bungalows have recently been added in Ripley, bringing the council's housing stock to 32 properties across the borough.

The latest homes join others in Kirk Langley and Belper as the council continues to expand its council housing across Amber Valley.
The council became a stock-holding authority again in 2024 for the first time since 2003.
Since then, it has steadily grown its housing stock with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, helping to meet a range of local housing needs.
The homes are owned by Amber Valley Borough Council and managed on its behalf by Futures Housing Group.
Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams, Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council, said:
"When we welcomed our first council tenants into new homes in 2024, we said this was only the beginning. Two years on, I'm proud that the council is continuing to deliver on that promise.
"Every home we secure is another opportunity for someone to have a secure, affordable place to live. We know what that can mean for people and their families, and while there's still much more to do, every new home helps another household put down roots in the community.
"The most rewarding part has been hearing from residents who are now living in our council homes. Knowing they've settled in and are happy in their new homes reminds us why this work is so important.
"We've made real progress, but this isn't the end of the story. We'll continue working with developers and partners to identify the right opportunities to grow our council housing and help meet the demand for affordable homes across Amber Valley.”

Looking ahead, the council's housing programme will continue to grow. A further six homes are expected in Kirk Langley in 2027, with another ten planned in Lower Somercotes during 2029.
Alongside these developments, the council will continue working with developers to identify opportunities that deliver high-quality, affordable homes for local people and help meet housing needs across Amber Valley.
