The referendum for the Swanwick Neighbourhood Plan took place on the 20 October 2016.
Because the number of votes cast in favour of a 'yes' did not constitute more than half of those voting (i.e. 50% plus 1), the Swanwick Neighbourhood Plan will not be 'made'.
Under Regulation 18 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, the borough council is required to publish a decision statement following the examination of a Neighbourhood Plan setting out the nature of the changes made to the plan.
The examination of the Swanwick Neighbourhood Plan was completed on 25 April 2016 and the examination report was issued to the borough council.
Nigel McGurk was appointed as the Independent Examiner in March 2016 to undertake the examination of the Swanwick Neighbourhood Plan.
Swanwick Parish Council submitted the Neighbourhood Plan to Amber Valley Borough Council to make arrangements for publicity and formal consultation for a period of 8 weeks from Wednesday 5 November 2015. This consultation has now ended.
The Neighbourhood Plan includes policies against which future development proposals would be assessed against through the planning process.

All comments received were forwarded to the Independent Examiner appointed to carry out the examination of the Neighbourhood Plan.

A screening opinion was carried out to determine whether the submitted Swanwick Neighbourhood Plan would require a SEA or HRA. It was concluded that these would not be required.
Swanwick Parish Council consulted on their draft Neighbourhood Plan under Regulation 14 of The Town and Country Planning, England The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. This consultation period finished on 16 May 2015.
