Thanks to UK Shared Prosperity Funding, allocated via the East Midlands Combined County Authority, four play areas in Amber Valley will be refurbished by March 2026.
The four play areas to be improved include;
The council invited qualified playground suppliers to provide designs to carry out these works and we are keen to share their exciting proposals.
We would love the support of the community to help choose the winning supplier to bring the project forward! Once the supplier is chosen the works could start towards the end of the year with completion by early Spring 2026.
We’re also planning extra improvements across other parks – new goals, fitness kit, fresh surfacing and more.
We recognise that there are many parks and play areas where improvements may be needed in the future. If your local play area is not on the list above, please use this separate play area feedback form to share your ideas and suggestions. If your play area is listed, kindly fill out the form below. All feedback will be considered for future developments.
Playgrounds are not only a source of fun and a great place to meet and play with friends and family, but they also serve as vital spaces for children to stay active, healthy, and socially engaged.
Playground suppliers were invited to submit their designs, and two different companies returned their exciting schemes.
To help make this project a success, we need your valuable input. Works to existing items include, removal of the old play area fencing including gates, replace the bark surface with grass and rubber mat and remove the old platform springy. Repaint existing slide, swings and roundabout and replace bin and 2 benches.
Provides a range of new and inclusive items including; 3-way spring seesaw, small basket swing, up and over climbing net, balance beams and stepping posts, aerial runway, 2 youth sit and stand seats, netball post, and 2 new kick-a-bout goals.

Works to existing items include, removal of spring motorbike/sidecar and traditional springy item, large mobilus rotator, pirouette spinner and kick about goal.
Provides a range of new and inclusive items including; crazy dragon springy, double seat springy, spinner bowl, Wheelchair accessible roundabout, 3-seater carousel, track rider, 2 play panels, overhead ladder, 2 S-shaped balance beams/bench plus 2 new kick-a-bout goals.

Provides a range of new and inclusive items including; double tower climbing frame with traditional slide, new swing with 1 cradle swing, 1 flat swing and 1 basket swing, spring seesaw, Wheelchair accessible roundabout, 1 play panel, 1 kick-a-bout goal, ground graphics including circle hopscotch, snakes and ladders and A-Z caterpillar.
