The recent closure of public toilets in Amber Valley has enabled the borough council to work closely with local businesses to develop a community toilet scheme (CTS).
This scheme has already been trialled and tested at various towns and cities across the country and has proved to be both a successful and popular alternative to traditional public toilet provision.
The CTS is an innovative approach to providing public access to better quality toilets in our main town centres. It is aimed at businesses that already provide toilet facilities for their customers and may not object to members of the public using their facilities, without necessarily purchasing goods or services.
The following list identifies local businesses signed up to the community toilet scheme, which are currently available for public use:
Genesis Centre, King Street: Open 7 days a week from 9am; Disabled facilities available
Indoor Market Hall, Institute Lane: Open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 8.30 am - 4.30 pm; Disabled facilities available
Rodgers Lane: Open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am - 4.00 pm; Disabled facilities available
Riverside Service Station, Derby Road: Open 7 days a week from 7.30 am; Disabled facilities available.
St Peters Church, Chesterfield Road: Monday - Friday 9.30am - 1.30pm, Saturday - Closed all day, Sunday - Open all day; Disabled facilities available
Belper River Gardens, A6 Matlock Road: 7 days a week from 9.00am - 5.00pm; Disabled facilities available
Strutt Street: Monday - Saturday 9.00am - 5.00pm; closed on a Sunday; Disabled facilities available
