Alcohol and entertainment licensing

Licence Fee Fraud Alert

We’ve been made aware of a scam where someone is visiting licensed premises and asking for payment for a ‘five-year Designated Premises Supervisor fee’.

This fee does not exist — you only ever pay once when a Personal Licence is first issued.

Council Licensing Officers will never visit in person to ask for payment and are not allowed to collect cash.

If you are contacted or approached:

  • Do not make any payments
  • Contact the Licensing team on 01773 570222 to check
  • Report it to the Police on 101 or Action Fraud (0300 123 2040)

The Licensing Act introduced a single licence scheme for licensing premises which supply alcohol, provide regulated entertainment and late night refreshment (i.e. the sale of hot food and/or drink between 11pm & 5am).

Certain applications can be applied for online and the links for this are available under each relevant section. However should you wish to make a postal application then the relevant forms and addresses can be found on our application forms page, alongside a list of responsible authorities.
