Amber Valley Borough Council is consulting on a draft Pavement Licensing Policy. The policy explains how the Council will administer its responsibilities for pavement licences under the Business and Planning Act 2020 and the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023.
The consultation runs from Friday 7 August 2026 to Monday 2 November 2026.
Pavement licences allow businesses such as cafés, restaurants, bars and other food and drink premises to place removable furniture, such as tables and chairs, on certain areas of the public highway adjacent to their premises. The draft policy sets out how applications will be considered, the conditions that may apply, enforcement arrangements and associated fees.
We welcome comments on the draft Pavement Licensing Policy. All responses received during the consultation period will be considered before the policy is presented to the Licensing Committee for approval.
