Large or bulky waste

You can take large items of household waste such as fridges, freezers, carpets and furniture to Loscoe household waste and recycling centre. However, if you are unable to transport your waste to the recycling centre then Amber Valley Borough Council can remove large unwanted items from your home. Please check the list of items that we can collect. Fridges, freezers, and any other items must be emptied and cleaned before they can be collected.

We collect a wide range of items, however, if you wish to have something removed that is not listed below, please contact us and we can offer further advice.

Before booking please read the following:

If the contractor visits the property on the arranged day and the items are not available for collection another payment will have to be made to rearrange the collection day.

No refunds will be automatically made by the council if the collection is cancelled or the items removed by someone else other than the council.

When booking your collection, we will need to know what items contain foam (these are referred to as POP items, "persistent organic pollutant" items), such as soft furniture, soft furnishings, and mattresses containing foam. Due to a change in Government legislation from January 2023, POP items (i.e. sofas and mattresses) have to be collected and disposed of separately due to the chemicals they contain.

  • 1-3 items, POP or non-POP - £35.00
  • 4-6 items, POP or non-POP - £50.00
  • White goods - £26.13 per item (please note we do not take industrial sized fridge or freezers)
  • Electrical items - £26.13 per item

Please note that no refunds will be given after payment has been received, even if the items have been taken by someone else other than the council or the collection needs to be cancelled. The items to be collected cannot be changed.
