Our social media channels are here to keep you informed about our services, local initiatives, and updates from across Amber Valley. They’re also a space where residents, businesses, and visitors can engage with us and each other - sharing thoughts, asking questions, and joining in conversations that matter to our communities.
To make sure our channels stay welcoming, safe, and respectful for everyone, we’ve introduced some simple house rules. Please take a moment to read through them before posting.
We may hide or delete posts that don’t follow these rules, and we reserve the right to block users - without warning - if they repeatedly go against our guidelines.
Respect the space – be kind and constructive
It’s easy to forget that commenting online is just like speaking in a public space - except your words can reach many more people, instantly. So, we ask that everyone posting here does so with kindness, respect, and consideration for others.
We won’t tolerate the following
- Swearing or profanity: Let’s keep things suitable for all audiences - no foul or offensive language.
- Abusive, offensive or discriminatory comments: Posts that contain hate speech, threats, bullying, or remarks that are sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise discriminatory will be removed - and may be reported to the police if necessary.
- Misinformation: We’ll remove posts that contain false or misleading claims, particularly if they contradict public health advice or encourage illegal behaviour. Honest debate is always welcome, but spreading ‘fake news’ isn’t helpful.
- Defamatory or slanderous remarks: Please don’t make personal attacks or post unfounded accusations about individuals or organisations.
- Spam or repetitive content: Posting the same message multiple times or trying to derail the conversation can prevent others from taking part. Let’s keep things on topic.
A few more things to know
- We’re not always able to respond: We monitor our social media during office hours, but we can’t reply to every comment. Direct messaging is also disabled, so if you need a guaranteed response, please contact us through our website or call our customer services team.
- Reporting an emergency: Social media isn’t the right place to report emergencies or urgent issues. Please call us on 01773 570222. For out-of-hours emergencies, contact 01773 841414.
- Keep personal details private: Please don’t post personal or sensitive information - about yourself or anyone else - in comments. This includes things like addresses, contact details, account numbers, or names of council officers. If we spot these, we’ll remove them to protect your privacy.
