The Local Plan will help shape the future of our area, setting out how and where new homes, jobs, infrastructure and community facilities will be delivered over the coming years. It provides a framework for sustainable growth and helps ensure that development meets the needs of local communities.
Preparing a Local Plan is a detailed process that takes time, and we expect to have our new Local Plan in place by March 2029.

We are aware that some residents may have questions about how the emerging Amber Valley Local Plan relates to the Government's proposals for local government reorganisation.
The Council is continuing to prepare the Local Plan in line with the published timetable. Government guidance is clear that local authorities should continue progressing their local plans and that forthcoming local government reorganisation is not a reason to delay plan-making.
The Government is currently developing arrangements to support the transition from district and county councils to new unitary authorities, including guidance on plan-making during this period. The full implications for individual local plans will become clearer as further Government guidance is published.
We encourage residents and stakeholders to continue engaging with the Local Plan process to help shape the future of Amber Valley.
