Collections over Christmas and adverse weather

Christmas and new year

To find out when your refuse and recycling bins will be emptied over Christmas and New Year, please visit the bin collection dates page and enter your postcode. Your next collection date will be shown, along with a link to your collection calendar which will show your full calendar for 2018/2019.

Refuse

On the first collection after Christmas we will collect:

  • your refuse bin and two extra bags of waste; or
  • up to six purple bags of refuse

Recycling

Extra recycling will be collected throughout the year. Please check the waste collection policy.

Collections during road closures/adverse weather conditions

During bad weather/road closures the council will attempt to collect on the normal collection day or within the next 48 hours. If we cannot collect within this time frame residents can put out:

  • Next refuse collection - three extra bags of refuse
  • Next recycling collection - extra recycling will be collected throughout the year

For regular updates during adverse weather conditions, please refer to the front page of the council website, where you will find the latest updates.

Recycling centres

You can take your extra waste and recycling to Loscoe household waste recycling centre which is open for business every day from 8.30am to 6pm except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Please check the list of what they can and cannot accept before you go.

Christmas tree recycling

Recycle (compost) your real Christmas tree by:

  • placing it in your garden waste bin - you may need to break/saw the tree into a smaller size. Please ensure that the tree root or branches are not over 7cm wide.
  • taking it to Loscoe household waste recycling centre - it will then be composted along with other garden materials
